Review of The Purge (2013) by Rockstar3225 — 29 Jun 2013
The premise of the movie is a bit far-fetched, and the way it played out was lacking and tacky.
For myself, it is always weird to see Ethan Hawke playing a character other than a rookie cop (as in Training Day).
The plot was lacking on a lot of what I wanted to see, such as: the antagonist dying a more horrific and painful death, the main character rising from his injuries, racism towards the black intruder, and a resolution that was clear on how things would play out beyond the ending. I don't understand why the black homeless intruder left so easily. I was expecting him to get together with the wife and become part of the family. The movie is a senseless anecdote.
