Review of The Purge (2013) by Ryan V — 27 Jul 2014
Okay well um this movie was a complete waste of a great premise. The premise is great but then they make it a home invasion movie which kinda makes the premise of crime being legal totally irrelevant. The script was awful cheesy while the acting was actually decent which in a way saves this movie from a total disaster.
I was also disappointed because from the looks of the trailer it looks like it is supposed to be a horror movie but it turns out to be a thriller/action movie which is still really entertaining just not what I expected.
So it was a slasher flick without the scare. I am extremely excited for the sequel because it takes place outside during the purge instead of in Ethan Hawke's bigass house. Having said all that the violence and gore was really entertaining and in the theatre this movie really actually did keep me on the edge of my seat so I can't complain about that.
(82, B-).
