Review of The Punisher (2004) by Manny C — 17 Mar 2011
Taking some liberties within the Marvel Punisher universe, 2004's The Punisher brings an energetic, and surprisingly muscular Thomas Jane to the big screen as the latest Frank Castle interpretation.
When undercover on a routine job, Castle has to stand witness to the cops accidentally shooting one of the attendees. The father of the victim, Howard Saint (John Travolta), holds Frank Castle responsible for the death of his youngest son, and returns the favor by sending out a kill squad during a big Castle-family-get-together, murdering everyone there.
Presumed dead, Frank Castle, within an inch of his life, takes whatever time he needs to recover, and starts his relentless quest for revenge. Features a 'surprise' cameo by former WCW/(now)TNA wrestler Kevin Nash.
