Review of The Punisher (2004) by Harikrishnan K — 29 Jun 2011
As far as the majority of comic book film adaptations go, The Punisher is extremely competent. Thomas Jane was the perfect choice to play the title character, and the entire supporting cast deserves props, especially Ben Foster and Rebecca Romijn, for their performances, which were far better than most supporting casts.
John Travolta, though? Well, you can't win them all. I was also disappointed by the choice of a sunny tropical place as the films location which really threw me off. I'm used to seeing the grity urban jungles of the comics, so the choice really caused some confusion for me.
Did anyone else think the sound of the guns firing sounded weird? I certainly did. I'm the first to admit that this could have been a better film, but this'll probably be as good as it gets for devout Punisher fans.
