Review of The Puffy Chair (2006) by Benjamin B — 28 Jan 2009
This film made me fall in love with mumblecore. I love naturalism and that is precisely what this is - naturalism in its rawest form (however, some moments/events toward the end border melodrama). Yes, it is made with a low low budget but it has more honesty and rich observation than the majority of films released.
Surprisingly effective performances (especially Aselton) and I loved the conflict and sweet humor - and that ending! This film is consistently engaging and surprising - those are the qualities of good filmmaking.
