Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Gilbert L — 05 Jul 2009
I don't know why, but the people in these old B&W 30's movies are more beautiful than our Anjelina Jolies and Brad Pitts of today. Really, James Cagney is a face that you just feel good around, and Jean Harlow is just a babe here, but enough of my labido here.
This film is great, it brings about a style that needs to be restarted and refurbished for todays movies. Gangster films just aren't what they used to be, it's all the same now, particularly after Spike Lee got onto the scene, nothing bad about him but everyone just tries to be like him is all I'm saying.
If you want a classic gangster film with good twists, this is what you should watch. Enjoy!
