Review of The Public Enemy (1931) by Blind P — 04 Nov 2010
The Public Enemy is absolutely hilarious in its rags to riches tale of Cagney the hood. Idiomatic slang and old time ethics are to credit, and it shouldn't be lost that it's a nice look at the 30s gangster era from the perspective of people who lived with it.
Now the governments are the gangsters, and they control the flow of vice for their personal gain, but who's paying attention anyways?
I best not say more, lest a free speech prohibition arise amidst all of our "security concerns". heh heh.
"I ain't so tough" indeed.
