Review of The Proposition (2005) by Pradeep N — 08 Aug 2010
Ill keep this as brief as I can. This film is absolutely astonishing. Directed by John Hillcoat and written by Nick Cave, this violent fable is one to go down as one of the best films in cinema.
The film follows a man named Charlie Burns (Guy Pearce)who has been offered a deal to save his little brothers life, in exchange for his older brothers death. Though thats just a quick overview, if you watch the film there is more depth to it.
This film is perfect on every level. The acting was some of the best ive seen from this amazing cast, most notably John Huston as Charlie's older brother and John Hurt as an alcoholic bounty hunter. This script shows the true talent of screenwriter/musician Nick Cave, who also did the hauntingly beautiful score to the film.
All I can really say is, watch this film and be blown away.
