Review of The Proposition (2005) by Sharon F — 26 Jul 2008
A sweaty, gritty, dusty tale of murder and justice in the Australian Outback. This movie is NOT for the squeamish, to be sure. The performances are sparkling, the cinematography is top-notch, and the story (written by Nick Cave in three weeks - I'm not sure someone with as much talent as he has is human) crackles with electricity.
Yes, it's disturbing at times, and yes, it can be slow-moving as well, but if you're a nerd like me who bothers making the snooty distinction between "movies" and "films", you can't pass this up.
