Review of The Proposition (2005) by Ville I — 01 Jan 2009
A bleak and violent Aussie western ("Austern"?) with a soundtrack almost as artsy as that of "Dead Man". Refreshingly devoid of needless explanation is a good thing in a way, but it also menas that the film doesn't really take root in anything and tries to follow too many things at the same time.
"Starring" Jesus-looking Guy Pearce, who can be seen on-screen maybe 30% of the film and who has maybe 15 lines of dialogue. Winstone is excellent and Hurt pops in as a menacing bounty hunter.
