A difficult Canadian boss forces her assistant into marrying her so she can stay in America. Of course, The Proposal is based around the same tired olf formula, but the fact that it is quirkier and much funnier than most films of the same kind is no small feat.
It simply seems to work, and that is mostly down to the unlikely pairing of Bullock and Reynolds, whose chemistry is surprising in itself. So, in short, given the positive surprises that flow aplenty in this film, The Proposal is slightly above the average quality mark.
