Review of The Promotion (2008) by Ryan C — 20 Sep 2008
A bit haphazard and slow to start but ultimately worthwhile and funny. Perhaps its my certain brand of humor but I felt the two leads performed quite well in such a low-key role given their penchant for absurdist antics.
It starts off slow enough, like a sleeper film, and gradually builds from an off-beat comedy to outright comedy of two desperate wannabe Alpha males facing off in a middle-class battle royale (in a supermarket of all places).
It's well-paced, well-acted and just right for time (at just about an hour and a half its something good to enjoy on a weekday night). Stylistic and none too cliche, this is one to rent at the very least!
