Review of The Promotion (2008) by Lewis C — 13 Oct 2008
I particularly like this one, particularly like to see John C. Reilly being relatively serious whilst still exerting sufficient Apatow-esque irreverency. Seann William Scott gives us the usual "okay" performance, but Reilly compliments him well.
Quite an ending. My dad and I felt mutual in our feelings toward the wholesome touch there at the close. I don't want to give anything away, but seriously -- exceptional.
Throughout this film, I was really trying to like John C. Reilly's character (a friendly Canadian), simply because I felt that I was "supposed" to. I was relieved to find out that this was not a fault, but an intentional factor in the storyline. And a clever one at that.
