I did not want to watch this movie after seeing the imdb ratings. A good friend of mine pointed out the ratings breakdown, I did and discovered that OVER HALF of the 1 star ratings on imdb and other similar sites were cast from users outside the US before the movie was even close to being released (see imdb ratings for breakdown).
DO NOT let the fascist genocide denyers sway you away from watching this movie. I watched The Promise and rated it 10 STARS ON imdb and other sites. Truly an Oscar-winning performance all-around and based on true events from the 1915 Armenian Genocide where 1.
5 million Armenians and thousands of other Christian minorities were slaughtered at the hands of the murderous young turks. A MUST SEE MOVIE!!!!?
