Review of The Promise (2017) by Scott R — 22 Apr 2017
This is an IMPORTANT MIOVIE everyone should see. The RT Pro Score should be over 90%, like the audience score, so there must be something annoying about the pro reviewers.
Oscar Issac probably won't get an Oscar nomination for two reasons. An Oscar for Oscar sounds redundant. Also because he wore a heavy beard and heavy clothing so it was hard to watch the fine details of his work.
Issac totally carried this movie and there were some uniquely acted scenes. After his great role in Ex Machina it's easy to see why Hollywood gave him the lead in a VERY important movie.
Was surprised to see Christian Bale in a supporting role, but he did it very well and the subject matter probably moved him to take a non-starring job. Much respect.
The Armenian Genocide, or more accurately denying the Armenian Genocide. is the reason Turkey was not admitted to the EU before it flipped into an Islamic state. I was never taught about it in history classes, and only learned of it about 10 years ago.
