Review of The Promise (2016) by Anna B — 23 Apr 2017
Went to see it yesterday. It's a beautiful movie, with an outstanding cast and great story telling. The subject matter is sad (backdrop is the crumbling Ottoman Empire and the Armenian Genocide) but it's a beautiful story of love, hope and courage. Highly encourage anyone to go see it. I had seen another movie from Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) which opened my eyes to a tragedy I didn't know anything about (the Rwandan genocide), and "The Promise" likely will do the same for you regarding another collosal tragedy in human history. It's money well spent and all proceeds go to charities to fight poverty and injustice in the world.
