My Mother is an Armenian woman born in Istanbul that emigrated to Canada back in the early 1960's. I was brought up learning the Armenian language and culture through my Grandmother and Mother. I was never taught to dislike or hate the Turkish culture.

All I knew is that my Mom and Grandma spoke perfect Armenian and Turkish. As I got older - and like many people do - I wanted to have a better understanding of my origins and that is when I learned of what happened to Armenians in Turkey.

Most of us have an innate curiosity of wanting to know more about where and who we came from. So I have learned that history comes at you whether you like it or not. The truth can be ignored or it can be accepted.

Either way, the deliberate persecution and denial of any culture by another culture is the lowest level of existence that any civilised society can attain. The sharing of ideas among cultures is how we all improve and succeed.

I am a direct product of what this movie has touched upon. Thank you to all who made it happen. This story means a lot to this guy.
