Stunning directorial debut from Mel Brooks which is brilliantly satirical and has the sharpest script of any of his films. Very much of its time, this is one of the definitive late 60s comedies. Gene Wilder had never bettered this performance and the chemistry between Wilder and Zero Mostel is unforgettable.
The musical within the film, "Springtime For Hitler" is without doubt, one of the most genuinely funny bad taste ideas anyone has ever come up with...
