Much, much better than the remake. Not only are the principal actors (Mostel and Wilder) better than their counterparts, Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and more fitting for their roles, but this version of the film retains the character that may be the most interesting part of the story: Lorenzo St.
DuBois. He's not in the remake (nor would he be appropriate since he's a '60s caricature), but he's hilariously portrayed by Dick Shawn here.
