I wanted to whole-heartedly endorse this movie as much as I did the book, but the translation from pages to celluloid proved difficult as it involved many awkward voice-overs such that the viewer could never fully embrace the film.
Julianne Moore is a prize in the main role of Evelyn Ryan, but sadly the film itself is a distant runner-up.
