Review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) by Jay W — 14 Jul 2009

Well to be honest I was not expecting very much from this film but I was Pleasantly surprised & really glad I watched it.

The film has an incredibly strong cast, including Robin Wright Penn who in my opinion does not make enough films, & she looked great with a natural look instead of being botoxed to the hilt like some other actresses her age.

Monica Bellucci looked amazing & Keanu Reeves managed to show off his incredible driving skills whilst saying lines!!! You can tell he really did sit down & watch The Fast & The Furious beforehand to get the motions exactly right for this part. WELL DONE KEANU!

I usually dislike Maria Bello with a passion, she ruined the MUMMY 3 & the bad words she said about ER when she left hav always left a bad taste in my mouth, but in this film she really did shine playing Pippa Lee's junkie mother with incredible laughs & shocks a plenty.

But without a doubt the real stand out for me was Winona Ryder. Now I always seem to be alone in my fandom of Winona but she really is a scene stealer in this movie. She is manic, shocking, sad, embarrassing & pitiful all in one role leaving you really with no choice but to either gasp in shock or laugh out loud. Its a role she really pulled off well & one I hope she gets good recognition for.
