Review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) by Carlos B — 15 Jul 2010
The Private Lives of Pippa Lee feels very much like an amiable daydream; sometimes not much happens, sometimes all hell breaks loose, sometimes it seems to be searching for something it can't quite reach.
It's nice, if you can find the film's centre, although you may just find yourself depending entirely on the (excellent) performances from Robin Wright Penn and Blake Livley. The supporting cast is huge, for a movie of this scope, and although not everyone gets enough screen time, their performances liven this picture from just another indie to an indie with some fun, worthwhile performances from name-actors.
