Review of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) by Michael D — 02 Mar 2008
Lovely film - beautifully crafted and wonderful script. It would be nice to see the full version but even with a third of the movie missing it's still great fun to watch. All the actors are superb and the dialogue is very witty, as one would expect from Wilder, surly the most writerly director of all the 'old Hollywood' greats.
'This apartment is very small Watson and the last thing we want is to clutter it up with women!'.
Well said Holmes, well said.
