Review of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) by Lucy R — 25 Feb 2009
Billy Wilder's revisionist take on Sherlock Holmes is well cast and has some interesting moments, but it's also meandering and unfocused (the result of having been trimmed down from a longer cut) and the central mystery itself is pretty silly.
Worth seeking out for Holmes afficienados, but casual fans may want to stick with a more traditional adaptation.
