Review of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) by Nina S — 13 Apr 2009
Extraordinarily entertaining late entry into the Billy Wilder ouvre. Wilder and Diamond have crafted a complex mystery/comedy that has aged very well and is full of great performances from its principal actors.
Robert Stephens makes a great Holmes, Colin Blakely is superb as Watson, and the supporting cast is top-notch. If you get a chance to watch this one, take it.
