Review of The Princess Bride (1987) by Spencer P — 22 Dec 2015
Perhaps the greatest romance on celluloid this side of Gone with the Wind or Casablanca or A Streetcar Named Desire, no film has better captured the spirit of unrequited love quite like the Princess Bride.
Bustling with unique characters and infinite charm, this film explores love in so many different dimensions beyond the charms of Cary Elwes and Robin Wright. Whether it be the lengths that Elwes will go to for his love, Andre the Giant's love for his friend, Indigo Montoya's undying love for his slain father, or the aged, mature love shared between Billy Crystal's character and his wife, no film is so dynamic, so serious, and so hilarious in its treatment of the subject.
