Review of The Princess Bride (1987) by Dukejon — 14 Feb 2022
Heard a lot about this movie before I finally got around to seeing it, and I have to say I don't know what all the fuss is about. A nice, safe fairytale with some good lines and characters, but the vast majority of the time I felt myself smiling along rather than laughing.
There are a few good scenes; the swordfight and the game of riddles, for example, but a lot of the time it's quite dull. There's also a framework of the tale being told by a grandfather to their grandson, which serves no narrative purpose.
It's the kind of movie that you forget the day after seeing it.
