Review of The Princess and the Frog (2009) by Brett H — 06 Mar 2014
A welcome return to 2D animation that I sorely missed from Disney and the choice to use an African-American princess in a New Orleans setting fantastically paid off! The characters are all solid with my favourites being the mile-a-minute Charlotte and Ray the firefly, with the questionable accent! The N'awlins setting is vibrant and opens the doors for a lot of inventive animation, particularly with the Baron Samedi-esque villain.
It won't go down as one of Disney's best, but it was a step in the right direction upon release.
