Review of The Princess and the Frog (2009) by Cj W — 11 Nov 2013

The Princess and the Frog is a very good film that returns to Disney's wonderful traditional animation, and gives kids today a glimpse of what made Disney so special to me as a kid, as well as many other generations of kids.

The animation in this film is very beautiful, and at times hypnotic, making it terrific to look at, but it lacks a little with its screenplay, and the songs by Randy Newman. However, there are some great jokes, and themes, the writers just didn't quite go far enough with those themes.

This film marks a return to high Disney standards, and the beginning of the Revival era; it is so near the level of the renaissance films, yet it doesn't quite get there, because the screenplay lacks an emotional and thematical touch, and the songs just aren't as well written, or as magical.

But I do recommend a viewing of this film.
