Review of The Prince of Egypt (1998) by Viktor G — 27 Jan 2013
Clocking in under two hours where some of the sweeping epics of the past have surpassed four, Prince of Egypt is arguably one of the best Exodus translations to hit the big screen, or any screen just about anywhere else.
While many religious enthusiasts might complain at a few of the inaccuracies displayed from the source material, this film imposes a few of its own twists in the story which do not hinder it in any way shape or form, and sometimes generates an emotional impact as you contemplate just how tragic some of the events transpiring can be, from the severing of ties between childhood brothers Moses and Rameses to how it might affect one to witness the downfall of their old family and home.
Prince of Egypt turns the story into something more real to a modern audience, and something quite striking, even when closely examined.
