Review of The Prince of Egypt (1998) by Monkey P — 07 Jan 2013
Compelling, emotional, acted with great vocal power and nuance and visually amazing. With a stunning score by Hans Zimmer and beautiful, memorable songs written by Stephen Schwartz, Dreamworks gives Disney a run for their money with The Prince of Egypt.
They've taken a timeless biblical tale and made it even more timeless with an animated, cinematic touch. Even though, it doesn't recount the entire biblical tale of Moses, I personally think it's better than Cecil B.
Demille's The Ten Commandments, focusing not just on the shear power of faith and hope but on the relationship between two "brothers" torn from one another forever, in order to do what is right.
5/5 stars.
