Review of The Prince of Egypt (1998) by Brandon H — 05 Nov 2013
The movie starts out with showing the Egyptians beating the slaves and a song saying deliver us the Promise land. This promise land being Israel and we know. It then quickly goes to a scene where Ramses and Moses are racing horse drawn carriages and make a mess of things and then get scolded by their father.
Moses was told who he really was by his sister reviling that he was a prophet sent by god to save his people. This being the people enslaved by the pharaoh of Egypt. Shortly after Moses sees what the Pharaoh did to all the newborn kids so that they wouldn't be able to overtake his kingdom.
Moses then leaves Egypt after killing a solider by pushing him off construction work. After Moses leaves he is found by a some people in a village and is brought to the village and there is a small celebration and the village elder thanks Moses for defending his people.
Moses then encounters the burning bush and talks to God one on one who tells him that Moses is the one who will bring his people out of oppression. After Moses returns he tells the Pharaoh Ramses that the Hebrew god told him to tell him to let his people go and then shows him the power of god.
After this the Priests do another ritual thing to show that their gods are more powerful. Moses once again tells Ramses to let his people go and turns water into blood. Shortly after the great Plagues begin.
Finally Ramses lets the Hebrew people go soon after his first son dies.
