Review of The Prince & Me (2004) by Marina N — 13 Jun 2012
Average but cute teen comedy about a college student from Wisconsin and Prince of Denmark falling in love with each other. Has a few fun moments - even for the ones of us who are out of the target audience. Primarily for women, though. To me, even in her younger years, Julia Stiles always had this classiness that would save the movie from becoming a cheap teen flick. The story is a bit far-fetched but the movie did not really try to be a documentary.
Media plays a great part in entertaining the kids today. I am glad that - spoiler - Julia actually sticks to her studies. Falling in love doesn't mean becoming completely irrational, after all. I am happy the message was NOT "drop out and marry - after all all your friends are married and you're a hard-working student with questionable social skills who might not get the chance again". I have seen similar takeaways for teen films before.
