Review of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) by Kate C — 17 Sep 2007
Maggie Smith like you've never seen her before... a somewhat ironic statement given this was one of her first films. There aren't many movies that shock me, but this one definitely did. I suggest that you go into this movie without any expectations because if you are expecting a light/silly movie about private school girls .
.. you will be terribly disappointed. Likewise, if you overlook this film as such then you will be missing out on an extremely well done, thought-provoking portrayal of political and social issues in the UK at the time.
