Review of The Prestige (2006) by Philh. — 12 Apr 2007
Near-perfect performances by a near-perfect cast, a highly original and compelling story, a marvellously entertaining thriller. For its genre, one of the best ever. We are informed mid-film that Jackman is playing two roles but he does so with such skill he appears to be two different actors; when we discover at the climax that Bale has done the same, it is even more remarkable.
And on top of all of it, the film is constantly a metaphor for itself. Bravo.
