From Christopher Nolan comes another wonderfully crafted movie with dark undertones in this intriguing story of the fierce rivalry between two illusionists in an early 20th century London. The one thing that certainly stands out in The Prestige is its gloomy and eerie atmosphere which gives this period drama a mysterious and compellingly dark twist.

Yet, the film is challenging, and requires one to watch it closely - perhaps as one would with a magic trick to try and discover its secret. There are some unbalanced factors in the rivalry between the two characters, maybe even a little uncertainty in revealing them as alter ego rather than good versus evil representatives.

Yet, there is no doubt that it is another remarkable blend of mainstream with experimentation by Christipher Nolan who always seeks to knock down the conventional boundaries of commercial and art house with his own original style and approach.
