Review of The Predator (2018) by Robb S — 11 Jan 2019

The stand alone Predator films have been for the most part good films. I'm not counting the AVP series here. When I heard that Shane Black was returning to the franchise I was excited. Little did I know that this version would be a farcical attempt to become a marvel movie complete with an Iron man suit.

It's hard to take a Predator seriously when everyone threatened is laughing and making wise-cracks. Even a young autistic boy doesn't seem to be worried about anything at all. The boy is so unaware that he wears a predator mask and kills a man unknowingly for not giving him a piece of candy during Halloween and then walks off as if it's no big deal.

Since suspension of disbelief is important for me as a movie-goer when it comes to sci-fi you can guess I will hate this one. The Predator and it's motives are silly and if I told you why you might not believe me because it is so stupid.

Even more brainless is the humor which bases itself on turrets syndrome, genetalia or mom jokes. How about I sum up just how unintelligent this film is in one scenario. A killer space-dog the size of a small car that viciously hunts humans is shot in the head.

It survives the wound but becomes subdued and somewhat lobotomized. One character actually says don't kill my dog later in the movie to stress it's a good guy dog now. The dog swallows a weapon earlier in the film and at the end when a person needs the weapon the dog shows up vomits it out of nowhere at just the right moment to save the day.

That's about all I need to say about this movie because that scenario happened in the movie and everyone involved in making it allowed that to take place!
