Review of The Predator (2018) by Michael T — 06 Nov 2018
The Predator is a fun enough film with 80's inspired humour and gore which throws you back to the original Predator film, however it is lacking in story and interesting characters. It also feels like a huge departure from the original as the predators now seem to be less interested in the hunt and more interested in science and genetics.
This could have been a nice addition to the overall lore of the race but for this film it seems to diminish the hunter aspects which define the creatures and makes them scary. The final scenes also suffer from the current movie trope of teasing future entries to the franchise rather than trying to focus on making a rounded off film with a start and end.
