Shane Black realized that the only way to make a good Predator movie is to make it as ridiculous as humanly possible. The Predator is filled with hilarious jokes, one-liners, and insane action. The franchise needed something new, not just another team walking around the woods, dying one by one.
Stop trashing this movie for being self-conscious about being stupid, it was the only way to make it good.
