Review of The Power of the Dog (2021) by Inmyday — 24 Feb 2022
OMG soooo boring. The first two times I tried to watch it I fell asleep. Had to drink a Red Bull on the third attempt just to stay awake. If a movie is just about pretty cinematography we don't need directors.
The cinematography is great, and it makes for a good trailer, but there is nothing here. And Benedict Cumberbatch is so miscast. He looks like he only weighs 110lbs soaking wet. Not a very ominous threatening figure at all.
The plot drags on like a broken cart being pushed uphill. Jane Campion hasn't directed a good movie since 1993's The Piano. Who keeps hiring her? I have no idea what the Oscars was thinking with all the nominations.
