Unnerving stuff. I'm not one for westerns so getting convinced to watch this was a challenge but im so glad I did cause what this western has surpasses those Americana cliché's. A deliciously slowburn masterpiece that confronts masculinity, perception and relationships.
Benedict is a powerhouse as the conflicted Phil who's repulsive vulnerability pulls you in whilst leaving you feeling as if you're walking on a tightrope. Fresh of its golden globe win I am satisfied with the choice.
Kristen Dunst is a weary mess that unravels like a wilting flower beneath the predatory Phil,truly a sigth to witness. And the final twist ending is an unanswered marvel.
