Review of The Postman (1997) by Simon L — 08 Mar 2011
Being a fan of Kev Costner, I had to see this. Knowing little behind it that it was a flop like Waterworld. All I can say it was great, a very interesting story, but also different at the same time. The only reason people dislike this film is because of the hype surrounding Waterworld, Costner obviously wanted a change of serious dramas and took gamble being involved in these two movies.
This is quite heavy stuff but despite what I am saying but the topic itself is rather lighter than his usual choice well worth checking out. A fine companion piece to Waterworld with lighter approach to the whole post apocalyptic atmosphere that we are so used to seeing.
Will Patton as Bethlehem is terrific, and Tom Petty is in this for some reason. A fine alternative to Waterworld without the Water.
