Review of The Post (2017) by Laszlo S — 06 Jan 2018
The Post is probably the best film of the year. Spielberg and the screenwriters are master filmmakers and brilliantly guide and manipulate our intellect and our emotions, in this political-historical drama about the publication of the Pentagon Papers in the Washington Post.
It is more and more frequent that the audience in the movie-theater applauds films, but in the case of The Post that clapping is spontaneous, honest and relatively long. The film is the best thriller about free press and succeeds to show the complexity of power play between a White House and the press.
Ultimately this is a feel good movie about the strength of the American democracy, about how the checks and balances working. This is one of the best propaganda film ever.
