Review of The Post (2017) by Hassan I — 13 Jan 2018
Steven Spielberg's "The Post" is an entertaining, educational and gripping film that delivers a timely message. Its a fascinating true story that showcases the importance of journalism in the world today.
Director Steven Spielberg brings this story to life using a talented cast and sharp script. In terms of acting, the entire cast is at the top of its game. Tom Hanks delivers his finest performance in years as a demanding news reporter.
With irresistible charm and a commanding presence, Hanks steals every scene he is in. Its another fine turn from one of the greatest actors working today. Meryl Streep is also terrific in the role of a determined woman that advocated for female rights.
Its easy to take for granted how good of an actress Streep is, but here she truly proves it. Despite these powerful performances, "The Post" is ultimately not a film without flaws. At times, it can be hard to follow if you don't know much about the time period.
Nevertheless, "The Post" is a captivating film that deserves to be seen and celebrated.
