Review of The Post (2017) by Dae J — 17 Jan 2018
To those who don't know, this story is about the scandal of Pentagon paper, told in the perspective of Washington Post & it's owner Kay Graham. If you want the detail account of what happened, I'm sure there are documentaries out there for you to watch. Overall, it's well made movie and well acted. Few issues I had were:
1. There was a scene involving a protest that didn't make sense, as location of where the main characters were threw me off a bit.
2. Expect watching this movie as a drama, rather than a mystery thriller. There were some tension of who has what & what they're going to do but it wasn't as impactful or moved me. I had more thoughtful revelation from a film , like 'Spotlight' that came out few years ago.
3. In the movie, there are several scenes that might upset some viewers because of what's happening in our country and come out as heavy-handed. I'm fine with message that it carries and I know that for others will not. So watch it with discretion... I guess ??
