Review of The Post (2017) by Mary H — 22 Jan 2018
This isn't necessarily new territory for Spielberg, taking his majestic sense of historical underdog stories and making a very entertaining Blockbuster with great performances out of it. Like pretty much all his films, you realize there's a lot of manipulation going on from his hands as a director to avoid perhaps more layered issues from specific times and the Oscar baitiness is ever so present but hey, I'm not gonna lie and say I wasn't engaged or fascinated from the story.
Spielberg does what he does at a very, very good level and it's the equivalent of going through a very thorough history lesson from a teacher you greatly admire.
