I had been excited to see this movie for over a month, mostly due to my love of Tom Hanks (surprise) and recently viewing Ken Burn's Vietnam on PBS. Needless to say this even would shape the political landscape of the 1970's.

That being said, I thought it was...alright. It did not keep me on the edge of my seat. The dialogue wasn't exceptional to counter the lack of suspense and where long, drawn out monologues could have been cut and replaced with more suspenseful events related to the story. Also, at the end it felt a bit corny.and unnecessarily preachy at times where it didn't have to be (the point was made in the plot).

Now Tom Hanks did great. Stellar performance and a bit out of character for a usual Hanks role. Streep was ok, perhaps it was her character's naivety but her performance just didn't stick with me.

The women's lib message took me by surprise but I have no complaints about it other than it felt corny and was presented through mostly monologues and pan shots.

All that being said, I would recommend this movie mostly because of the topic and Tom Hanks. However, you might want to wait to rent it.
