While certainly topical and loaded with star firepower with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, this film ultimately disappoints. The ending left me feeling...is that all?? Streep has been lauded for her portrayal of the gradual ascendency of Katherine Graham from meek widowed socialite to journalistic titan.

..I don't see it. She remains cowed up to about 5 minutes from the end. And Hanks' Ben Bradlee is all bluster all day. Bob Odenkirk as the intrepid reporter who ultimately broke the Pentagon Papers allowing the Washington Post to catch up to the New York Times Ben Bagdikian was the most compelling character.

I can't help but feel that an opportunity was lost here. Frankly, Spotlight and All the President's Men were better.
