Review of The Possession (2012) by James B — 27 Aug 2013
A pretty standard exorcism film with only the jewish folklore making it stand out.... although the film The Unborn delved into the subject matter, it is still an uncommon thread.
What saves the film are the really solid performances. Morgan makes for a likable flawed character that you can truly sympathise with, and the little girl is magnificent as a tortured possessed child. Overall all the performances were good.
The scare factor is a slow build, but there are some effectively scary moments throughout. There is also a fascinating look inside Judaism' more darker side much like christianity or Catholicism. Every religion has a devil in some form.
Bottom line, what we have here is an ok exorcism film made better by the actors,.
