Review of The Possession (2012) by David B — 29 Jan 2013
A better-than-most fright-time tale. Even if you resist the film's claims of being based on one family's actual experiences, "The Possession" is eerily enjoyable pulp. "The Exorcist" has influenced a lot of films, and this is one of the better ones.
The acting was quite decent, especially from the child actors, the adult actors came second but were still good. To be honest, there are a lot of these films coming out and the genre is filling up with loads of rubbish and ultimately getting raped.
The special effects were good and very simply and not over-complicating the storyline which is also slick and again simple. Again moody colors and camera angles and tries very hard to get away from being cliche but you can't help the fact that you've seen this sort of thing before, if not loads of times.
Still a good B-movie, which seemed to do really well with it's budget. Has a few good scary bits but nothing that'll make you jump out of your seat. Worth a look for a Friday night in but even with the lights off, it's not THAT scary.
